Bohag Bihu- The Assamese New Year

 On the day of 14th April, or on the 2nd week of April, we see the commencement of the Assamese new year. We, the locals call it as Rongali or Bohag Bihu. It simplifies and gives the explanation for the beginning of the harvest festival in the northeastern state of Assam for the paddy crops that are grown by the local farmers. This holiday would hold as a considerate way of reuniting the native settlements of Assam to come together and celebrate this auspicious occasion in a brand new manner with the help of the united people of the northeastern states and get together for such events that’ll be hold during such schedules. 

Rongali Utsab is a celebration that is held in Guwahati, that upholds and showcases the tribal culture of Assam. There are always multiple ways of celebrating this occasion by the people of the state, the original way is to follow up with the beginning of the harvest festival, conducting harvest of the paddy crops during the summer of April and people also enjoy with the help of music, fairs, and many other activities and events that take place during the month. Its cultural significance defines the Assamese language and various ways of conducting its ceremonies as well the musical performances held.

The way of the celebrations, the unity between the people and the beautiful harvest of the paddy crops and happiness defines the true essence of Rongali Bihu in the Assamese culture.
